About this ring
Anodised bevels, in detail
The anodised channel turned inside out. Here the face of the band stays natural, satin zirconium, and a fine line of anodised colour runs along each edge instead of through the middle. The colour frames the ring rather than dividing it, so from the front it reads as a pale band, and the shade shows most at the edges and as the hand moves. On a wide band that makes it the quieter of the two designs. The colour is offered in dark blue, purply blue, bronze, pink or yellow.
How it wears
The colour is oxide grown from the zirconium itself, a thin film rather than paint, and here it sits on the edges, the part of any ring that meets door frames and desk tops first. Over years of wear the two lines may soften where they take contact, while the satin face carries on much as it began. A line that looks dull may only be carrying residue, which cleans away. Zirconium is hypoallergenic and comfortable on skin that reacts to nickel.

It was drawn to sit beside the Anodised channel in a slimmer width, so the natural pairing is one of each in the same colour: colour down the centre on one hand, colour at the edges on the other.
Chosen on its own, it suits someone who wants colour present but not leading. At 8 to 10mm the plain centre gives a broad, calm face; at 4 to 6mm the two lines sit closer together and the colour plays a larger part. Bronze and dark blue are the most reserved of the five shades.

The metal, in brief
Zirconium grows its own oxide layer under electrical current, and the thickness of that layer decides the colour. Nothing is painted, plated or dyed. The colour is the surface of the metal itself, produced by light interfering with a film a few hundred nanometres thick, which is why it shifts slightly as you turn your hand.
Surface hardness Mohs 8.5, density 6.5 g/cm³, and hypoallergenic, so it is a sound choice for skin that reacts to nickel. It is not a precious metal, so it carries no hallmark.

About Anodised bevels
- Can this ring be resized?
- Not in the usual way. The colour is a fine layer grown on the surface, and resizing the band would break through it. So the size is the part to get right, and the free ring size finder makes that a two minute job.
- Is engraving included?
- Yes, and it is optional. Leave the box blank and the ring is made plain. If you do want one it is laser cut inside the band where the ring is made, rather than sent out to a third party, and there is no charge and no extra wait.
- How long will it take?
- 2 to 3 weeks. It is made in your size after you order, not picked off a shelf, and that is the reason the widths and finishes are open choices.
- Can I return it if I have it engraved?
- Not for a change of mind. An engraving makes the ring clearly personalised, which puts it outside the statutory right to cancel, and it cannot be resold. Every ring shop draws the line here. Order it plain and you keep the full 30 days. Either way, a ring that arrives faulty or is not what you ordered is covered by the Consumer Rights Act, which nothing waives.
