Titanium rings, metal by metal
33 bands in 2 metals. The least expensive is the plain titanium at £165. The widest go to 10mm. 12 cost under £300, 25 cost under £500.
| Metal | Rings | Price | Widths | Surface | 6mm band, est. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Titanium | 19 | £165 to £595 | 4 to 10mm | Mohs 6 | 2.2g |
| Titanium with a precious inlay | 14 | £385 to £795 | 4 to 10mm | Mohs 6 | 2.2g |
Prices include UK delivery and engraving. Weights are estimates for a plain 6mm band at UK size N with a 1.6mm wall (how they are worked out); the solid gold bands carry the maker's own weight on each ring's page. Surface hardness is on the Mohs scale, where a higher number resists fine scratches better.
Titanium is the metal for anyone who has never worn a ring and is not sure they will like the feel of one. At about 4.5 grams per cubic centimetre it is under a third of the reference density of 18ct yellow gold. The plain band is the lightest and least expensive ring we make. GETi says most of its designs use Grade 2 and its tension-set designs use higher-tensile Grade 5, so we do not apply one aerospace-grade claim to the whole range.
Made to order, titanium takes an inlay better than any precious metal: a flush strip of solid 9ct gold, a channel of stabilised hardwood, a diamond set level with the surface, or laser cut work, from a Celtic knot to your own fingerprint at real depth in the metal. Titanium cannot be resized by a high street jeweller, though many designs can go back to the workshop.
About titanium rings
- Is titanium a good metal for a wedding ring?
- It can be if you want a very light ring and accept its trade-offs. Titanium can show fine surface marks, and GETi says its Grade 5 has higher tensile strength but no more scratch resistance than Grade 2. Check the exact grade, finish and resizing options of the design you are buying.
- Can a titanium ring be resized?
- Not by a local jeweller. Many designs can be resized by the workshop that made them, at a charge and with an assessment first. Measure carefully before you order.
- Is titanium hallmarked?
- No. Hallmarking applies to precious metals. Where a titanium ring carries a solid gold inlay, the gold component is hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office.
