Prices include UK delivery and engraving. Weights are estimates for a plain 6mm band at UK size N with a 1.6mm wall (how they are worked out); the solid gold bands carry the maker's own weight on each ring's page. Surface hardness is on the Mohs scale, where a higher number resists fine scratches better.
Most wedding ring shops sort by metal and start with gold. We start with what the ring has to survive: a hand that types, lifts, gardens, washes up and knocks door frames for fifty years. Titanium is a third the weight of gold. Black zirconium has a hard, heat-grown oxide surface rather than applied black plating. Anodised zirconium grows colour at the surface under electrical current. Solid gold inlaid into either gives you hallmarked precious metal on the face of a contemporary band.
Every ring is made after you order it, in your size, and most of it in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. That is why the hard metal bands run from 4mm to 10mm with the finishes open, and it is why it takes a fortnight or so rather than a day. The solid gold bands are made one width at a time, from 2mm to 7mm. If you are buying two, most designs pair with a slimmer or wider partner on the His and Hers page.
About wedding rings
- How long does a wedding ring take to make?
- Two to three weeks for anything made to order in zirconium or titanium. Delivery is insured and signed for and adds one working day.
- Can I get matching wedding rings?
- Yes. Most designs come in widths from 4mm to 10mm, so a pair is the same ring in two widths. Where a design is made only in wide widths, its page names the slimmer partner it was drawn to sit beside, and ordering both together saves five per cent.
- Is engraving free on every wedding ring?
- Yes, inside the band, up to thirty characters, laser cut where the ring is made. An engraved ring cannot be returned for a change of mind, which is why the size finder sits in front of the range.
