Cut, set, finished and hallmarked by benches that have been doing it in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter for the better part of two centuries. Precious metal is assayed and marked before it leaves them.

Colour made by voltage
Nothing is painted, plated or dyed. Zirconium grows its own oxide under electrical current, and the thickness of that film decides the colour. What you are looking at is the surface of the metal itself.

Every colour is the same metal
Raise the voltage and the film thickens, and the wavelength it cancels moves with it. Bare metal, then champagne, then gold, on the same band that started grey. No pigment: the colour comes from the oxide film. Protect that coloured surface from abrasion.

Cut back to bright metal
Heated in air, the same metal turns genuinely black. Machine that black away in lines and the pale zirconium beneath shows through. The colour is a hard oxide surface rather than applied plating, but it is not immune to deep scratches or impact.

Every ring is made after you order it, in your size, in the width and finish you chose. That is why it takes a fortnight, and it is the reason the choices are open at all.

30 days to change your mind on most unengraved bands, fourteen on a solid gold band or a stone set ring, and return postage is on us. If anything arrives faulty, we put it right.

- How do I know what size to order?
- Measure at home with the free ring size finder. It works from a ring you already own or a strip of paper, converts between UK, US and European scales, and takes about two minutes. It costs nothing and there is no account to make.
- How long does a ring take?
- Two to three weeks for most bands, which are made in your size after you order rather than picked off a shelf. A stone set ring takes about four weeks, because the stone is chosen against its report and the mount is cast in your metal.
- What happens if the size is wrong?
- If it is unengraved, send it back inside 30 days and we refund it, and we pay the postage; a solid gold band or a stone set ring has fourteen days. An engraved ring cannot come back for a change of mind, which is the norm everywhere and is why we put the size finder in front of the range. Better still, measure properly first: gold and platinum designs can offer conventional resizing, while titanium and black zirconium need specialist assessment. Any alteration depends on the finished ring.
- Do you sell gold?
- Yes. Solid 9ct gold inlaid into titanium and black zirconium, hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office, and every stone ring cast to order in 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold or platinum. Plain gold bands are being priced with two Birmingham makers and will follow.
- Where are the rings made?
- In the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, by a manufacturer who has been hand finishing titanium and zirconium there since 1999. Stones are sourced individually against their reports and set to order.
