|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Titanium | 17 | £165 to £385 | 4 to 10mm | Mohs 6 | 2.2g |
| Black zirconium | 16 | £199 to £475 | 4 to 10mm | Mohs 8 | 3.2g |
| Anodised zirconium | 13 | £269 to £365 | 4 to 10mm | Mohs 8.5 | 3.2g |
| Titanium with a precious inlay | 8 | £385 to £499 | 4 to 10mm | Mohs 6 | 2.2g |
Prices include UK delivery and engraving. Weights are estimates for a plain 6mm band at UK size N with a 1.6mm wall (how they are worked out); the solid gold bands carry the maker's own weight on each ring's page. Surface hardness is on the Mohs scale, where a higher number resists fine scratches better.
Under five hundred pounds is where the contemporary metals live. Titanium starts lowest and is the lightest thing on the hand. Black zirconium costs a little more for a surface that is black all the way to the edge of the oxide, and anodised zirconium a little more again for colour grown into the metal rather than painted on. Patterned and laser cut bands sit a step above the plain ones in each.
The inlays are the way to have real precious metal at this price: a strip of solid, hallmarked gold or platinum set flush into titanium. A whole band of solid gold starts just above the line, and the couple sets in gold sit above it too. Two bands from this page make a pair for under a thousand pounds, with five per cent off when both are in the same order, and the budget planner works out what any figure reaches.
About under £500
- Can I get a gold wedding ring under £500?
- Yes, as an inlay: a strip of solid, hallmarked 9ct gold set flush into titanium. A whole band in solid gold starts a little above five hundred pounds, because the gold alone is most of the cost at today's price.
- What is the cheapest wedding ring here?
- Plain titanium is the least expensive ring in the range, in any width from 4 to 10mm, with engraving and delivery included. It is also the lightest.
- Is £500 enough for a good wedding ring?
- For a band you will wear every day, yes. The money buys the metal and the making; a titanium or zirconium band at this price is the same material and the same work as one at three times the price elsewhere. What it does not buy is a solid precious-metal band, which starts just above it.
- What does a pair cost?
- Two bands from this page come in under a thousand pounds, with five per cent off when both are ordered together. The budget planner works it out for any figure.
- Do the diamond set bands come under £500?
- Yes. A diamond set flush in titanium, and scattered or single diamonds in black zirconium, are all within it.
- Are there engagement rings under £500?
- Not in this range. Our diamond solitaires start at five hundred and ninety-five pounds for a certified lab grown stone, and the full ladder of carat prices is on the engagement rings page.
