About this ring
Koi, titanium, in detail
Two koi swim around this band, with the water they move through drawn in around them, laser cut into titanium the full way round. The fish meet on the far side of the ring, so from the front you see one in motion and the suggestion of the other. It is the most pictorial design in the range, and the depth of the cutting gives it life: the fish and the water sit at different levels, so the light picks them out as the hand moves. A wedding band, drawn like an illustration.
How it wears
A pictorial ring has a forgiving surface. Titanium can take fine marks with daily wear, but on a band this full of line and movement a small scuff reads as part of the water. The metal is very light, at about 4.5 g per cubic centimetre, so the ring sits easily even at its widest, and it is hypoallergenic. The one thing it asks is to come off for abrasive or high-impact work, which keeps the cut edges of the fish sharp.
Choosing yours
The koi are a picture, and a picture needs room, so width is the main decision. At 8 to 10mm there is space for the fish and the water to be seen clearly; at 4 or 5mm the design becomes a flowing texture that only reveals its subject up close. It suits someone who wants the least expected ring on a wedding finger, or who already has a feeling for koi. It pairs with itself, so two bands can carry the same pair of fish.
Width by width
| Width | How it reads | Weight, est. | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4mm | Slim, the quietest everyday width | 1.5g | £365 |
| 5mm | Between slim and classic | 1.8g | £365 |
| 6mm | Classic, the usual starting point for a band | 2.2g | £365 |
| 7mm | Classic to broad, more of the pattern shows | 2.5g | £365 |
| 8mm | Broad, a ring that is clearly there | 2.9g | £390 |
| 9mm | Wide and bold, best on a larger hand | 3.3g | £390 |
| 10mm | Wide and bold, best on a larger hand | 3.6g | £390 |
Weights are estimates for a plain band of the same width in titanium at UK size N with a 1.6mm wall, from the model in our ring weight calculator. A pattern cut into the surface removes a little metal, so the finished ring is slightly lighter. The price steps up at the widths that take more metal to make.

The metal, in brief
Titanium is by a distance the lightest metal we make rings in. At about 4.5 g per cubic centimetre it is under a third the reference density of 18ct yellow gold. GETi says it normally uses Grade 2 for its designs and reserves higher-tensile Grade 5 for tension-set rings, so the exact grade belongs in the specification of the ring rather than a range-wide claim.
Surface hardness Mohs 6, density 4.5 g/cm³, and hypoallergenic, so it is a sound choice for skin that reacts to nickel. It is not a precious metal, so it carries no hallmark.
Compared side by side: Anodised zirconium or titanium, Black zirconium or titanium, Sterling silver or titanium. Or read the full titanium guide.
About Koi, titanium
- Can this ring be resized?
- Limited enlargement may be possible. GETi says grade 5 titanium cannot be stretched or compressed: machining the inside larger removes metal and cannot reduce the size. Wall thickness, stones and inlays limit that option. Grade 2 titanium has different possibilities, so check the actual grade and design. A remake may be offered instead; confirm what happens to the original ring, engraving and finish before agreeing.
- Is engraving included?
- Yes, and it is optional. Leave the box blank and the ring is made plain. If you do want one it is laser cut inside the band where the ring is made, rather than sent out to a third party, and there is no charge and no extra wait.
- How long will it take?
- 2 to 3 weeks. It is made in your size after you order, not picked off a shelf, and that is the reason the widths and finishes are open choices.
- Can I return it if I have it engraved?
- Not for a change of mind. An engraving makes the ring clearly personalised, which puts it outside the statutory right to cancel, and it cannot be resold. Every ring shop draws the line here. Order it plain and you keep the full 30 days. Either way, a ring that arrives faulty or is not what you ordered is covered by the Consumer Rights Act, which nothing waives.
- How much does the Koi, titanium ring weigh?
- About 1.5g at 4mm, 2.2g at 6mm, 3.6g at 10mm, estimated for a plain band in titanium at UK size N. Larger sizes and wider bands weigh more. It is a light ring by any standard: 18ct gold of the same size is more than twice the weight.
- What widths does it come in, and do they cost the same?
- 4 to 10mm. 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm are £365, and 8mm, 9mm, 10mm £390, because the wider bands take more metal to make.
- What is closest to the Koi, titanium in the range?
- Aztec, titanium (titanium) and Wood inlay (titanium). The comparison table on this page sets them side by side on metal, width, hardness and price.
- What if I get the size wrong?
- If it is unengraved, return it inside 30 days and we refund it, and we pay the postage. Use the free ring size finder first if you are unsure, and if the ring is a surprise, ask us and we will talk you through the ways to find out without asking them.
