About this ring

Roman numerals, colour line, in detail

A flat zirconium band with a natural top, an offset groove anodised blue, and your date in Roman numerals repeated around the band beside it, set as day, month and year with dots between, as photographed: 14 June 2026 reads XIV·VI·MMXXVI. You give us the date when you order.

How it wears

The blue sits in a groove, below the surface of the band, and the numerals are engraved into the metal. Zirconium is hypoallergenic, at 6.5 grams per cubic centimetre.

Choosing yours

Choose the date, then the width, from 6 to 10mm: a wider band gives the numerals and the groove more room. It pairs with itself, so two rings can carry the same date. A ring made with your date is yours alone, so it cannot come back for a change of mind.

Width by width

Each width this ring is made in
WidthHow it readsWeight, est.Price
6mm Classic, the usual starting point for a band 3.2g £349
7mm Classic to broad, more of the pattern shows 3.7g £349
8mm Broad, a ring that is clearly there 4.2g £374
9mm Wide and bold, best on a larger hand 4.7g £374
10mm Wide and bold, best on a larger hand 5.3g £374

Weights are estimates for a plain band of the same width in anodised zirconium at UK size N with a 1.6mm wall, from the model in our ring weight calculator. A pattern cut into the surface removes a little metal, so the finished ring is slightly lighter. The price steps up at the widths that take more metal to make.

The metal, in brief

Zirconium grows its own oxide layer under electrical current, and the thickness of that layer decides the colour. Nothing is painted, plated or dyed. The colour is the surface of the metal itself, produced by light interfering with a film a few hundred nanometres thick, which is why it shifts slightly as you turn your hand.

Surface hardness Mohs 8.5, density 6.5 g/cm³, and hypoallergenic, so it is a sound choice for skin that reacts to nickel. It is not a precious metal, so it carries no hallmark.

About Roman numerals, colour line

Can this ring be resized?
Not in the usual way. The colour is a fine layer grown on the surface, and resizing the band would break through it. So the size is the part to get right, and the free ring size finder makes that a two minute job.
Is engraving included?
Yes, and it is optional. Leave the box blank and the ring is made plain. If you do want one it is laser cut inside the band where the ring is made, rather than sent out to a third party, and there is no charge and no extra wait.
How long will it take?
2 to 3 weeks. It is made in your size after you order, not picked off a shelf, and that is the reason the widths and finishes are open choices.
How much does the Roman numerals, colour line ring weigh?
About 3.2g at 6mm, 5.3g at 10mm, estimated for a plain band in anodised zirconium at UK size N. Larger sizes and wider bands weigh more. It is a light ring by any standard: 18ct gold of the same size is more than twice the weight.
What widths does it come in, and do they cost the same?
6 to 10mm. 6mm, 7mm are £349, and 8mm, 9mm, 10mm £374, because the wider bands take more metal to make.
What is closest to the Roman numerals, colour line in the range?
Celtic, anodised (anodised zirconium) and Greek key, anodised (anodised zirconium). The comparison table on this page sets them side by side on metal, width, hardness and price.
What if I get the size wrong?
Settle the size before it is made, because a ring made with your date cannot come back for a change of mind. Use the free ring size finder, or choose I do not know yet and we confirm the size with you before anything is made. If the ring arrives in a size other than the one you ordered, we put it right.
