Dashed white gold line, titanium

From £385

A white gold line, broken into dashes.

A flush inlay of 9ct white gold with the titanium cut through it at intervals, so the line reads as dashes around the band rather than an unbroken stripe. Quietly modern. Hallmarked at Birmingham.

About this ring

Dashed white gold line, titanium, in detail

A line of white gold runs around the face of this band, but it never quite completes itself. At regular intervals the titanium cuts back through, so the gold arrives as a series of dashes, each one sitting flush with the metal around it. Under a satin finish the two greys are close in tone, and the difference shows mostly as the hand turns: the gold gives a whiter, cleaner brightness than the titanium beside it. Where the other line rings in the range draw one continuous stripe, this one reads like punctuation, a rhythm rather than a rule.

How it wears

Most of the ring is titanium, so it weighs very little and the band is hypoallergenic. The satin surface is forgiving: the fine marks titanium picks up in daily wear blend into the brushed texture instead of standing out. The gold is the softer of the two metals and gathers its own small marks a little sooner, which on a satin face reads as wear rather than damage. For heavy or abrasive work it is a ring to slip off.

Choosing yours

It comes in seven widths, from 4 to 10mm, all in satin. At 4 or 5mm the ring is fine and quiet, a good fit for a slimmer finger or someone who wants the band to read softly. From 8mm up it has more presence on the hand, and the broken line becomes the feature people notice first.

The design pairs with itself, so two of them in different widths make a set that matches without being identical. Beside a partner's white gold or platinum ring it shares a colour while keeping a shape of its own.

The metal, in brief

Titanium is by a distance the lightest metal we make rings in. At about 4.5 g per cubic centimetre it is under a third the reference density of 18ct yellow gold. GETi says it normally uses Grade 2 for its designs and reserves higher-tensile Grade 5 for tension-set rings, so the exact grade belongs in the specification of the ring rather than a range-wide claim.

Surface hardness Mohs 6, density 4.5 g/cm³, and hypoallergenic, so it is a sound choice for skin that reacts to nickel. It is not a precious metal, so it carries no hallmark.

About Dashed white gold line, titanium

Can this ring be resized?
Limited enlargement may be possible. GETi says grade 5 titanium cannot be stretched or compressed: machining the inside larger removes metal and cannot reduce the size. Wall thickness, stones and inlays limit that option. Grade 2 titanium has different possibilities, so check the actual grade and design. A remake may be offered instead; confirm what happens to the original ring, engraving and finish before agreeing.
Is engraving included?
Yes, and it is optional. Leave the box blank and the ring is made plain. If you do want one it is laser cut inside the band where the ring is made, rather than sent out to a third party, and there is no charge and no extra wait.
How long will it take?
2 to 3 weeks. It is made in your size after you order, not picked off a shelf, and that is the reason the widths and finishes are open choices.
Can I return it if I have it engraved?
Not for a change of mind. An engraving makes the ring clearly personalised, which puts it outside the statutory right to cancel, and it cannot be resold. Every ring shop draws the line here. Order it plain and you keep the full 30 days. Either way, a ring that arrives faulty or is not what you ordered is covered by the Consumer Rights Act, which nothing waives.
How much does the Dashed white gold line, titanium ring weigh?
About 1.5g at 4mm, 2.2g at 6mm, 3.6g at 10mm, estimated for a plain band in titanium at UK size N. Larger sizes and wider bands weigh more. It is a light ring by any standard: 18ct gold of the same size is more than twice the weight.
What widths does it come in, and do they cost the same?
4 to 10mm. 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm are £385, and 8mm, 9mm, 10mm £410, because the wider bands take more metal to make.
What is closest to the Dashed white gold line, titanium in the range?
Gold line, titanium (titanium with gold inlay) and Rose line, titanium (titanium with gold inlay). The comparison table on this page sets them side by side on metal, width, hardness and price.
