Aztec, titanium

From £365

A dense Aztec pattern cut around the whole band.

Glyphs and geometry drawn from Aztec carving, laser cut into the surface of a satin titanium band so the pattern has real relief rather than sitting flat on the metal. It reads as texture from across a room and as detail up close; confirm the titanium grade on the order.

About this ring

Aztec, titanium, in detail

Glyphs and geometry drawn from Aztec carving, cut around the whole circumference of a satin titanium band. The laser takes the design into the metal so it has genuine relief, with raised and recessed planes that catch the light differently as the hand turns. At arm's length the band reads as a rich, even texture; close up, the individual glyphs and geometric forms separate out and can be followed one by one. Where Runes and Ogham carry a message, this one carries pure ornament, dense and all over.

How it wears

Titanium is light enough that even a heavily patterned band feels slight on the finger. Its surface can take fine marks, and on this design they matter least of all: so much of the ring is relief and recess that a small scuff simply disappears into the carving. The satin ground between the cut areas wears softly. Heavy or abrasive work is still worth taking it off for, to keep the edges of the pattern crisp. The metal is hypoallergenic.

Choosing yours

Pattern this dense rewards width. At 8 to 10mm the glyphs have space to be read as carving and the ring becomes a statement; at 4 to 6mm the same design condenses into a rich texture that sits more quietly beside other jewellery. It suits someone who wants a band with presence but no stone, and anyone drawn to ancient pattern for its own sake. The design pairs with itself, so a couple can wear two, each at a different width.

Width by width

Each width this ring is made in
WidthHow it readsWeight, est.Price
4mm Slim, the quietest everyday width 1.5g £365
5mm Between slim and classic 1.8g £365
6mm Classic, the usual starting point for a band 2.2g £365
7mm Classic to broad, more of the pattern shows 2.5g £365
8mm Broad, a ring that is clearly there 2.9g £390
9mm Wide and bold, best on a larger hand 3.3g £390
10mm Wide and bold, best on a larger hand 3.6g £390

Weights are estimates for a plain band of the same width in titanium at UK size N with a 1.6mm wall, from the model in our ring weight calculator. A pattern cut into the surface removes a little metal, so the finished ring is slightly lighter. The price steps up at the widths that take more metal to make.

The metal, in brief

Titanium is by a distance the lightest metal we make rings in. At about 4.5 g per cubic centimetre it is under a third the reference density of 18ct yellow gold. GETi says it normally uses Grade 2 for its designs and reserves higher-tensile Grade 5 for tension-set rings, so the exact grade belongs in the specification of the ring rather than a range-wide claim.

Surface hardness Mohs 6, density 4.5 g/cm³, and hypoallergenic, so it is a sound choice for skin that reacts to nickel. It is not a precious metal, so it carries no hallmark.

About Aztec, titanium

Can this ring be resized?
Limited enlargement may be possible. GETi says grade 5 titanium cannot be stretched or compressed: machining the inside larger removes metal and cannot reduce the size. Wall thickness, stones and inlays limit that option. Grade 2 titanium has different possibilities, so check the actual grade and design. A remake may be offered instead; confirm what happens to the original ring, engraving and finish before agreeing.
Is engraving included?
Yes, and it is optional. Leave the box blank and the ring is made plain. If you do want one it is laser cut inside the band where the ring is made, rather than sent out to a third party, and there is no charge and no extra wait.
How long will it take?
2 to 3 weeks. It is made in your size after you order, not picked off a shelf, and that is the reason the widths and finishes are open choices.
Can I return it if I have it engraved?
Not for a change of mind. An engraving makes the ring clearly personalised, which puts it outside the statutory right to cancel, and it cannot be resold. Every ring shop draws the line here. Order it plain and you keep the full 30 days. Either way, a ring that arrives faulty or is not what you ordered is covered by the Consumer Rights Act, which nothing waives.
How much does the Aztec, titanium ring weigh?
About 1.5g at 4mm, 2.2g at 6mm, 3.6g at 10mm, estimated for a plain band in titanium at UK size N. Larger sizes and wider bands weigh more. It is a light ring by any standard: 18ct gold of the same size is more than twice the weight.
What widths does it come in, and do they cost the same?
4 to 10mm. 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm are £365, and 8mm, 9mm, 10mm £390, because the wider bands take more metal to make.
What is closest to the Aztec, titanium in the range?
Koi, titanium (titanium) and Wood inlay (titanium). The comparison table on this page sets them side by side on metal, width, hardness and price.
What if I get the size wrong?
If it is unengraved, return it inside 30 days and we refund it, and we pay the postage. Use the free ring size finder first if you are unsure, and if the ring is a surprise, ask us and we will talk you through the ways to find out without asking them.
