From £559
Flat vertical facets on both, and a fine beaded edge on hers. 4mm, sold alone or as a set.
Four millimetres with the face cut into flat vertical facets that catch the light one after another. Comfort fit inside, so the inner edge is rounded rather than left square against the finger. About this ring
Minimal edge, his: 4mm in 9ct or 18ct gold, in detail
Four millimetres of gold cut into flat vertical facets that run all the way around the band. Each facet catches light in turn, so as the hand moves the ring flickers panel by panel. There is no edge detail on this version, only the facets and the crisp lines where they meet, which keeps the design clean and architectural. It is the plain half of the Minimal edge set; hers adds a fine beaded line along one edge, and otherwise the two share the same face.
How it wears
The inside is comfort fit, rounded at the edges, so a band of flat facets feels softer on the finger than it looks. 9ct gold marks at Mohs 3.5, but on a faceted face scratches spread across several planes and seldom catch the eye. The facet edges round a little over the years without losing their shape. At about 1.4g in 9ct it is a shade heavier than hers, solid without being bulky.
Choosing yours
It is 4mm only, so the decision is the carat. 18ct, about 1.9g, is warmer and heavier; 9ct is lighter and the harder of the two. It suits someone who likes a ring with shape but no ornament. With the Minimal edge, hers it makes a set, the same faceted face on both and a beaded edge on hers. On its own it sits just as comfortably beside a plain band or a faceted one, and needs no partner to make sense.
The width
| Width | How it reads |
|---|---|
| 4mm | Slim, the quietest everyday width |
Carat by carat
| Gold | Weight | Price, delivered |
|---|---|---|
| 9ct gold | About 1.4g | £559 |
| 18ct gold | About 1.9g | £819 |
The design and width are the same in each; the gold changes the colour depth, the weight and the hallmark. 9ct or 18ct gold, compared.

The metal, in brief
37.5% gold against 18ct's 75%, so roughly half the metal cost in a year when bullion set an all time record. It is also the harder alloy of the two, which matters more on a ring worn daily than the carat number does. Fully hallmarked, with resizing options that depend on the finished design, and a British standard that has been sold here for over a century.
Surface hardness Mohs 3.5, density 11.2 g/cm³. As a precious metal it is hallmarked under UK law.

About Minimal edge, his: 4mm in 9ct or 18ct gold
- Can this ring be resized?
- A plain 9ct gold band may suit conventional resizing, but the metal alone does not establish a safe size range. Stones, settings, pattern and condition can restrict an alteration; full eternity is not the only difficult design. GIA warns against stretching platinum bands containing stones. Have the finished ring assessed for the size and direction of change, and confirm the method, finish, cost and timing before work begins.
- How long will it take?
- About 4 weeks. It is made in your size after you order rather than picked off a shelf, in the one width this design is made in.
- What is closest to the Minimal edge, his in the range?
- Milgrain edge (9ct gold) and Rounded court (9ct gold). The comparison table on this page sets them side by side on metal, width, hardness and price.
- What if I get the size wrong?
- Return it inside 14 days and we refund it, and we pay the postage. Use the free ring size finder first if you are unsure, and if the ring is a surprise, ask us and we will talk you through the ways to find out without asking them.
