From £535
A row of square facets, cut the same on both rings. 4mm, sold alone or as a set.
Four millimetres with the face cut into a row of square facets, each one catching the light on its own. Comfort fit inside, so the inner edge is rounded rather than left square against the finger. About this ring
Square facet, hers: 4mm in 9ct or 18ct gold, in detail
Four millimetres of gold with the face cut into a row of small squares, each a flat plane of its own. Move the hand and the brightness travels along the band in steps, jumping from one square to the next instead of sliding in a single line the way it would on a smooth court. The ring is crisp and geometric, livelier than plain metal and quieter than a stone. Where Faceted vega reshapes the whole outline of the band, Square facet keeps its cuts on the face, and it shares them exactly with the men's ring.
How it wears
At about 1.1g in 9ct this is a light ring, easy to forget once it is on. Gold at Mohs 3.5 takes marks, and on a faceted face they tend to settle on the most exposed squares first, dulling those a little while the others stay bright. That uneven sheen is the normal life of a gold band, and it polishes out. The comfort fit rounds the inner edge, so a 4mm ring sits without pressure.
Choosing yours
With a single 4mm width, the choice rests on carat. In 9ct the ring weighs about 1.1g and is the harder alloy, sensible for a hand that is rarely still. In 18ct, about 1.6g, it holds twice the gold, for someone who wants the richer metal.
Four millimetres gives the facets room to read without the band looking wide on a slimmer finger. Square facet, his is cut identically, so the two rings answer each other square for square.
The width
| Width | How it reads |
|---|---|
| 4mm | Slim, the quietest everyday width |
Carat by carat
| Gold | Weight | Price, delivered |
|---|---|---|
| 9ct gold | About 1.1g | £535 |
| 18ct gold | About 1.6g | £755 |
The design and width are the same in each; the gold changes the colour depth, the weight and the hallmark. 9ct or 18ct gold, compared.
How it compares with the rings nearest it
| Ring | What sets it apart | Metal | Widths | Surface hardness | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Square facet, hers (this ring) | A row of square facets, cut the same on both rings. 4mm, sold alone or as a set. | 9ct gold | 4mm | Mohs 3.5 | £535 |
| Soft ridge | The face rises to a gentle ridge, so the light runs along the finger. | 9ct gold | 3mm | Mohs 3.5 | £535 |
| Hammered gold | Hammered all over, so there is no mirror panel to keep perfect. | 9ct gold | 4mm | Mohs 3.5 | £529 |
| Minimal edge, hers | Flat vertical facets on both, and a fine beaded edge on hers. 4mm, sold alone or as a set. | 9ct gold | 4mm | Mohs 3.5 | £529 |
There are 32 9ct gold bands in the range, from £515 to £719. All about 9ct gold.
The metal, in brief
37.5% gold against 18ct's 75%, so roughly half the metal cost in a year when bullion set an all time record. It is also the harder alloy of the two, which matters more on a ring worn daily than the carat number does. Fully hallmarked, with resizing options that depend on the finished design, and a British standard that has been sold here for over a century.
Surface hardness Mohs 3.5, density 11.2 g/cm³. As a precious metal it is hallmarked under UK law.

About Square facet, hers: 4mm in 9ct or 18ct gold
- Can this ring be resized?
- A plain 9ct gold band may suit conventional resizing, but the metal alone does not establish a safe size range. Stones, settings, pattern and condition can restrict an alteration; full eternity is not the only difficult design. GIA warns against stretching platinum bands containing stones. Have the finished ring assessed for the size and direction of change, and confirm the method, finish, cost and timing before work begins.
- How long will it take?
- About 4 weeks. It is made in your size after you order rather than picked off a shelf, in the one width this design is made in.
- What is closest to the Square facet, hers in the range?
- Soft ridge (9ct gold) and Hammered gold (9ct gold). The comparison table on this page sets them side by side on metal, width, hardness and price.
- What if I get the size wrong?
- Return it inside 14 days and we refund it, and we pay the postage. Use the free ring size finder first if you are unsure, and if the ring is a surprise, ask us and we will talk you through the ways to find out without asking them.
