From £635
A brushed satin band beside a granulated one. 6mm, sold alone or as a set.
Six millimetres with a granulated surface that takes the light like frost. Comfort fit inside, so the inner edge is rounded rather than left square against the finger. About this ring
Satin granulated, hers: 6mm in 9ct or 18ct gold, in detail
The granulated half of a deliberately mismatched pair. Six millimetres of gold with the surface worked into a fine grain, so the light settles on it the way it settles on frost, rather than bouncing off in a single streak. There is no mirror shine here: the ring glows evenly from every angle, softly and with a faint glint, which makes a wide band look delicate. Its partner, Satin granulated, his, is brushed to a smooth satin instead, so the two share a metal and a width but not a texture.
How it wears
A granulated surface is already made of countless tiny points, so the small scratches 9ct gold takes at Mohs 3.5 disappear into it. Over the years the highest points of the grain can smooth a little where the ring meets door handles and bag straps, softening the frost into a gentler sheen, a change that reads as character rather than damage. The comfort fit rounds the inner edge, which keeps a 6mm band from catching at the base of the finger.
Choosing yours
Width is fixed at 6mm, so the carat is the choice. 9ct, about 2.1g, is the harder alloy and the better match for daily knocks; 18ct, about 2.9g, is richer in gold and heavier on the hand. Six millimetres is generous, but the matte texture keeps it light in appearance, so it works on a slimmer finger as well as a broad one.
With Satin granulated, his it makes a set where brushed and granulated finishes sit side by side.
The width
| Width | How it reads |
|---|---|
| 6mm | Classic, the usual starting point for a band |
Carat by carat
| Gold | Weight | Price, delivered |
|---|---|---|
| 9ct gold | About 2.1g | £635 |
| 18ct gold | About 2.9g | £1,009 |
The design and width are the same in each; the gold changes the colour depth, the weight and the hallmark. 9ct or 18ct gold, compared.

The metal, in brief
37.5% gold against 18ct's 75%, so roughly half the metal cost in a year when bullion set an all time record. It is also the harder alloy of the two, which matters more on a ring worn daily than the carat number does. Fully hallmarked, with resizing options that depend on the finished design, and a British standard that has been sold here for over a century.
Surface hardness Mohs 3.5, density 11.2 g/cm³. As a precious metal it is hallmarked under UK law.

About Satin granulated, hers: 6mm in 9ct or 18ct gold
- Can this ring be resized?
- A plain 9ct gold band may suit conventional resizing, but the metal alone does not establish a safe size range. Stones, settings, pattern and condition can restrict an alteration; full eternity is not the only difficult design. GIA warns against stretching platinum bands containing stones. Have the finished ring assessed for the size and direction of change, and confirm the method, finish, cost and timing before work begins.
- How long will it take?
- About 4 weeks. It is made in your size after you order rather than picked off a shelf, in the one width this design is made in.
- What is closest to the Satin granulated, hers in the range?
- Mosaic, his (9ct gold) and Horizontal textured, hers (9ct gold). The comparison table on this page sets them side by side on metal, width, hardness and price.
- What if I get the size wrong?
- Return it inside 14 days and we refund it, and we pay the postage. Use the free ring size finder first if you are unsure, and if the ring is a surprise, ask us and we will talk you through the ways to find out without asking them.
